Day Two! Hey, if y'all have something y'want up, please send it in ASAP. I will put it up. Also, Greg (Lord SAv), please re-send your story. For the life of me, I cannot find it. :) Everything Jake by Dillon St. Jean Kelly’s Dad A knock was heard on the door of a run-down house in New York. Guy Rose walked up to the door and answered. Guy: Hello? What do you want? Hector: Mr. Rose? Hello, my name is Hector Egan. Mr. Rose extends his hand and they shake. Hector: Can I come in? Guy: Yeah, sure. (He kicks a pile of garbage out of the way.) Please excuse the mess, I didn’t expect any company. Hector takes a seat on an old rocking chair. Hector: Now, Mr. Rose, if I may, I’d like to ask you a few questions. Guy: You aren’t a Jehovah’s Witness, are you? Hector: No, Mr. Rose. Now, I’d like to ask you a few things about your marriage. Guy: My marriage? That’s none of your God damned business! Get out of my house! Guy gets up from his seat slowly and begins to leave the room. Hector: Hold on now, sir, listen. I’m with the FBI. Guy stops in the middle of the room. Guy: Let me see your badge. (Hector pulls out a fake badge and flashes it to Harold, making sure he won’t get a good look.) Alright, just what the hell do you need to know this for, anyways? Hector: Calm down. This is important for your son. Guy: My son. Hell, which one? Be more specific. Hector: Well, I doubt giving you a name would help, its your youngest son. Guy: Oh, him. How’s Kelly doing? Hector: He’s alright. Now, I need to know about the mother. Your youngest son’s mother. Guy: Well, I don’t really know what to tell you, she was a good woman, unlike her son, the little bastard won’t even give me the time of fuckin’ day anymore, do you know that? Hector: I do, and from what I understand, he has reason for his actions. Guy: Yeah, I know, I’m sure he told you all about how I used to drink, but I can’t anymore. I have can- Hector: Cancer in your liver. Yes, I know. Guy: Right. What did you say your name was again? Hector: Hector Egan. Now sir, I want to ask you about your cancer. Guy: That’s kinda personal, isn’t it? Hector: Please, sir. It’s important. Guy: Alright. Hector: Now, when did you learn that you had cancer? Guy: Oh, a couple years ago, maybe. I hoped that maybe the chemotherapy would help, but it hasn’t much. Hector: Mr. Rose, I talked with your doctor, Dr. Samson, and he says that you don’t have cancer. At all. Guy: … Oh. Hector: Why did you lie about your cancer, Mr. Rose? Why would you lie to your son? Guy: Hey, lay off, alright! I just wanted him to forgive me. Hell, I guess that cancer line hasn’t worked on anyone. I just wanted him to know I was sorry, and that maybe he’d listen if I said I was dying. Hector: And did he listen? Guy: No. Hector: But, Mr. Rose, have you actually quit drinking? Guy: Yeah, I have, finally. It may not look like it from the way I live, I just haven’t had any reason to clean up. I’ve been going from job to job for months now, none of my bastard kids want anything to do with me, and the only one of the women I married left me years ago. Hector: Its alright. Guy: The fuck it is! You don’t know what I go through every day. Every one of my kids hates me. Hector: And whose fault is that, Mr. Rose? Guy: Hey, shut the hell up, alright? What are you, some kinda psychiatrist? …Heh, doesn’t seem like that cancer lie works on anyone. Hector: Excuse me? Guy: My daughter Kelly, the only one who even slightly speaks to me, didn’t believe that I had cancer. Eventually I told her the truth, and told her not to tell her brother. Then I told Kelly, my college boy. He didn’t believe me either. At least, I think he didn’t. Hell, it probably didn’t help that I sla- Hector: Slapped him across the face. Yes, I know. Guy: Damn, that boy told you just about everything, didn’t he? Hector: Yes, just about. Guy: Yeah, well what else did he tell you? I hope he hasn’t been making up shit about me to the FBI. He hates me enough to do it. Hector had been reading Guy’s mind from the start. Kelly never would have explained his past to him. He would know that it wasn’t even necessary, with Hector’s powers. Although Jake had warned Hector and his division to stay away from the Roses, he also said that anyone with the name Kelly Rose was to stay out of the program. Also, he felt that a simple conversation wouldn’t hurt. Hector: Well, he told me all that he could remember about his mother, which was not much. He told me about how the only other time he met his sister, other than just recently coming into contact with her, was when she was an infant. But Mr. Rose, I still need to ask you a few questions about your wife. Guy: …Alright. But don’t go getting too personal. Hector: Mr. Rose, this information is needed by the Federal Government. Even if you feel a certain topic is “too personal”, I’m afraid I’ll still need to know. Guy: …Fine. What do you want to know? Hector: Alright, first, what was your wife’s name? Guy: What do you think? Kelly. Hector: Well, from what I know sir, you have six children named Kelly Rose. The first four children you had were born before your marriage to “Kelly”. How could you name your children after someone you hadn’t even known at the time? Guy: I did know her. She was my girlfriend throughout high school. We broke up and didn’t see each other until my kids, who I’d named after her, were born. Then we started going out, and she got pregnant. We got married, and then had our son, Kelly. But less than a year after she had Kelly, or daughter, she left because of my drinking. She couldn’t stand my drinking. I got abusive, and I am so sorry for that now. But it wasn’t only my drinking that made her leave. Hector: What else was it? Guy: She changed, she just changed, is all. Hector: Changed how? You have to tell me, Mr. Rose. Guy: Her eyes. Her eyes had completely changed. Hector already knew what he meant by reading his mind. Even though he did, he was still shocked when Mr. Rose said it. Guy: Her eyes were black. They went entirely black. I couldn’t even find the pupils of her eyes, everything just blended in. Hector still was amazed. Could Kelly’s immunity to telepathy be a trait from their mother? The same things happened to the Kellys whenever they reacted to psychic powers. Hector had no idea of how far up the family tree Kelly’s “gift” went. Guy: You alright? Hector: Uh, yes, yes. Please, if we can continue. Now, why was this a reason for her to leave? Guy: She said she felt like something was wrong. She said she saw things that were happening. Hector: Happening where? Again, Hector already knew. Apparently, she could see things in the future. Things about Kelly, and about how he would become trapped somewhere. Harold doesn’t really know much about it, he can only remember some of what Kelly told him. But Hector thinks he knows what he meant. Kelly’s “twin”. Guy: Wait, is something wrong? (Harold leans in with a concerned look on his face.) Is anything wrong? Hector: No, nothing, its fine. Guy: Listen, if something is wrong, I think I have the right to know. Hector: Please, Mr. Rose, don’t concern yourself with this. I just need to know where your ex-wife is right now. Guy: …Show me your badge again. Hector pulled out the fake badge and showed it to Kelly’s father. He snatched the badge out of his hands and got a good look at it. Without saying a word, he stood up and swung a fist at Hector. Hector stopped his hand in mid-air and sent him flying hard into the wall, knocking him out cold. He scanned Guy’s mind again and went out in search of Kelly’s mother.
